On Wednesday, March 25, the international online event “Ukraine in Focus: Learn from Ukrainian Educators and American Volunteers” brought together educators and volunteers from Ukraine and the United States to share experiences and discuss the current situation in Ukraine attended by the Philology Faculty students.
The speaker at the event was Yulia Talalay, Head of the Department of English Language and Translation. In her report, Yulia Talalay presented a vision of the Ukrainian educational community during wartime, sharing the challenges faced by teachers and students (psycho-emotional state, level of motivation), and the adaptation of the educational process to modern realities.
Olha Leshko, a teacher at Truskavets Secondary School No. 1, Doctor of Philosophy, focused on the challenges of the unstable educational process faced by students and teachers during their studies in wartime (air raids, power outages, etc.).
American volunteers who work directly with Ukraine also joined the discussion. Among them were Jon Gudorf, a representative of the 50 States for Ukraine initiative, and Anne Robles from the Ukraine Front Line, Inc. organization. They shared their own stories of helping Ukraine, talking about humanitarian missions, and their experience of working with Ukrainian communities.
The event took the form of a presentation and a question-and-answer session, allowing participants to get a deeper understanding of the situation in Ukraine and establish an international dialogue.
