The Union Committee of Employees at Drohobych Ivan Franko State Pedagogical University is an elected body, which includes the chairman of the Committee, the secretary and 8 heads of the staff union bureaus within the university’s structural divisions: the Faculty of Ukrainian and Foreign Philology, the Faculty of Primary Education and Art, the Faculty of Human Health and Natural Sciences, the Faculty of History, Pedagogy and Psychology, the Faculty of Physics, Mathematics, Economics and Innovative Technologies, the University Administration, the University Library, and the Economic Department.

The history of our teachers’ union dates back to the distant 1940, when, according to the resolution of the government of the Ukrainian SSR, a number of teacher training institutes were founded in the regional centers in the Western Ukraine including Drohobych. But the institute only worked for a few months, its activities were interrupted by the nazi invasion in June 1941. The institute resumed its work in November 1944.

The university union committee puts protection of the legitimate rights and interests of its members at the core of its activity. This is a public organization that consolidates people helping them solve urgent problems consistently implementing the principle of social partnership. The union committee is the initiator and organizer of various educational events that help create a friendly atmosphere in the university.

In its work, the union committee is guided by the Charter of the Union of Education and Science Workers of Ukraine; the Law of Ukraine “On Trade Unions, Their Rights and Guarantees of Activity”; Sectoral Agreement between the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, the Unions of Education and Science Workers of Ukraine and the All-Ukrainian Association of Employers’ Organizations in the Field of Higher Education for 2021–2025; Agreement between the Department of Education and Science of the Lviv Regional State Administration and the Lviv Regional Organization of the Union of Education and Science Workers of Ukraine for 2021–2025; Collective Agreement of Drohobych Ivan Franko State Pedagogical University for 2022–2025.
