About the teacher

Why it is worth getting a teaching profession at Drohobych University

At school, we loved mathematics, biology, and chemistry.

We read Kotlyarevsky, Shevchenko, Lesya Ukrainka, young Tychyna, Ulas Samchuk.

We memorized Symonenko, Stus, Lina Kostenko.

We experimented – young physicists, counted stars – dreaming astronomers, traveled around the Earth – inspired geographers.

We played football, basketball, went jogging and swimming.

We stood side by side with Volodymyr, Danylo, Mazepa, Dovbush, with the legions of the Ukrainian Sich Riflemen, with the victors of the Orange Revolution.

We could read Shakespeare, Goethe, and Victor Hugo in the original.

And all this was taught at a secondary school!

We will link our career with Drohobych. We are proud of this city, like Yuri Kotermak who was born in Drohobych in the middle of the 15th century. Later, he became a student-rector at the University of Bologna, a scientist-educator, geographer, astronomer, doctor, philosopher, astrologer and traveller, he always emphasized that he was Yuri from Drohobych!

Ivan Franko himself studied here! An outstanding Ukrainian writer, publicist, philosopher, economist, politician, public figure, linguist, the one whom contemporaries called the “academy of sciences” and “university” in one person.

Today, Drohobych University offers a variety of programmes taught at the faculties of physics, mathematics, economics and information technology; Ukrainian and foreign languages; history, pedagogy and psychology; human health and natural sciences; primary education and art.

Choose the art of teaching because today it is the most noble and necessary occupation for you and your country! And you can also teach someone to read, write, count, think, build, create, achieve, believe, care, love!

At Drohobych University students feel like home in a heart-warming and friendly environment. Here, everything is culture-centric and nationally defined, as is customary in Galicia! Here, we feel we are part of a great tradition!
