Every year, teachers and students at Drohobych Ivan Franko State Pedagogical University participate in various forms of academic mobility: internships, summer schools, and guest lecturers at universities around the world.
From February 28 to March 27, Head of the Department of World History and Special Historical Disciplines, Professor Oleh Petrechko, with the support of the German cultural center “Goethe-Institut” at the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Ukraine, completed an internship at Lincoln Bishop University (Lincoln, England) within the framework of the House of Europe program. The rich academic mobility program included a wide range of scientific, educational, and organizational activities.
A series of meetings were held with representatives of faculties, departments and administration, with units responsible for student support (Student Support, The Hub), digital learning and academic skills development, which made it possible to study the experience of comprehensive support for students, in particular those with special educational needs. Particular attention was paid to the discussion of educational programs, the organization of the educational process and opportunities for international cooperation.
The internship was a continuation of a series of seminars for history students of Lincoln Bishop University and Drohobych Ivan Franko State Pedagogical University of all levels of higher education. The following speakers at the seminars were: Dr. Steve Nunn (independent researcher), Professor Oleh Petrechko (Drohobych University) and Dr. Rebecca Pinner (University of East Anglia). Professor Oleh Petrechko had the opportunity to get acquainted with the educational process at Bishop Grosseteste University in theology, history, archaeology and preparatory courses, to study the features of modern teaching methods in British higher education.
A separate block was made up of work in museums and archives including visits to the Lincoln Museum, the Lincolnshire Archive, as well as leading historical sites and museums in Great Britain (Cambridge, Norwich, York, Vindolanda and forts along Hadrian’s Wall). This made it possible to get acquainted directly with the material heritage of Britain during Roman times and collect valuable materials for scientific and teaching activities.
The management of Drohobych Ivan Franko State Pedagogical University expresses its sincere gratitude to everyone who contributed to the successful organization and implementation of this academic mobility program, in particular: Fabian Mühlthaler, Director of the German Cultural Center “Goethe-Institut” at the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Ukraine, Natalia Luder, Assistant for Grants and Scholarships Support of the “House of Europe” Project, Professor Andrew Hauer, Vice-Chancellor and Director General of Lincoln Bishop University, and Dr. Derwin Gregory, Head of the “Archaeology, Military History and Heritage” Educational Program at Lincoln Bishop University.
