DEPARTMENT OF PEDAGOGY AND METHODOLOGY OF PRIMARY EDUCATION

The Department of Pedagogy and Methodology of Primary Education was created in September 1980 (Order No. 255 of 08/09/1980) and was originally called the “Department of Pedagogy and Methodology of Primary Teaching”. At that time it consisted of eleven persons: D. Lutsyk (Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Head of the department); H. Arutiunova (Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Dean of the faculty); L. Latokhina (Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor); K. Yaskevych (Candidate of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor); S. Kurdydyk (Candidate of Biological Sciences, Associate Professor); A. Zymul’dinova (senior teacher); M. Prots (senior teacher); M. Kordysh (senior teacher); A. Fok (senior teacher); Ye. Katynskyi (teacher); N. Serhiienko (senior laboratory assistant).

In 1989 (Order No. 102 dated 26.06.1989) the Department of Pedagogy and Methodology of Primary Teaching was renamed the Department of Humanities and in 2006 (Order No. 376 dated 31.08.2006) as a result of reorganisation (division into two departments) it returned to its former name the Department of Pedagogy and Methodology of Primary Teaching.

In 2014 (Order No. 579 dated 22.11. 2013) the specified department was renamed the Department of Pedagogy and Methodology of Primary Education, which was headed by Mykola Pavlovych Pantiuk, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor.

From 2016 to 2021 the department was run by Lilia Hryhorivna Stakhiv, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor; since December 2021 Iryna Ihorivna Sadova, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor has been the Head of the department.

Since the department was founded 15 candidate theses have been defended: A. Fok (1986), A. Zymul’dinova (1988), T. Lohvynenko (1991), L. Hamal’ (1994), M. Fedurko (1995), H. Fil (1995) , I. Kutniak (2005), T. Nadimianova (2006), L. Skalych (2007), L. Stakhiv (2007), S. Illiash (2008), L. Koltok (2008), I. Sadova (2009) ), N. Kalyta (2009), R. Danyliak (2017) and four doctoral theses have also been defended: M. Kravchenko (1990), M. Fedurko (2006), M. Pantiuk (2011), I. Sadova (2020). The quality indicator of the department has increased: I. Sadova has received the academic title of Professor; T. Nadimianova, L. Stakhiv, S. Illiash, L. Skalych, N. Kalyta, L. Koltok, R. Danyliak have received associate professorships.

An important scientific achievement of the department is writing such textbooks as Bukvar (Primer) (the authors D. Lutsyk, M. Prots, A. Savshak), Bukvar for Schools with a Polish Bias (the author D. Lutsyk), the Polish Language for the 2^nd School Year (the author D. Lutsyk) and a study guide for teachers and students “The Native Word in the Native School. Integrated Study of Reading and the Ukrainian Language in the 2^nd Form” (the authors D. Lutsyk, A. Zymul’dinova, H. Fil’, O. Khymyn), Basics of Defectology and Inclusive Education (the author I. Sadova), Methodology of Teaching Science (1-4 Years) (the authors L. Stakhiv, L. Koltok).
