The staff of the department trains specialists of the first (Bachelor’s Degree) level of higher education in the theoretical and practical disciplines, bachelors in the specialties:

The Department of the English Language Practice and Methods of Teaching was founded on the basis of merging of the following departments: the Department of the English Language Practice, the Department of Comparative Pedagogy and Teaching Methods of Foreign Languages, and the Department of Linguistic and Intercultural Communication of the Institute of Foreign Languages.
The history of the Department of Comparative Pedagogy and Methods of Teaching Foreign Languages began in 1992. Based on the decision of the Academic Council of Drohobych Ivan Franko State Pedagogical Institute, the Department of Second Foreign Language was established at the Faculty of Foreign Languages on the basis of the Department of Foreign Languages and the Department of English. Due to the reorganization of the faculty in 2001, on the basis of the Second Foreign Language Department, the Department of Foreign Language Methods of Teaching was established, which was renamed: the Department of Comparative Pedagogy and Foreign Language Methods of Teaching in 2014. Throughout all the years of its existence, The Department was headed by Ph.D. in Pedagogy, Associate Professor Sosiak Myroslava.
The Department of Linguistic and Intercultural Communication was established in 2010 on the basis of the Department of Foreign Languages and Comparative Studies. It was headed by Associate Professors Mnykh Roman, Pryma Liubov, Palytsia Halyna, Professor Kosmeda Tetiana, and Pavlishak Oksana Ph.D. in Pedagogy, Associate Professor. The department staff conducted lectures courses on Polish Philology at the Institute of Foreign Languages, as well as all foreign languages classes at non-philological faculties of the University.
The Department of the English Language Practice was established in 2000. Ph.D. in Philology, Associate Professor Liubov Datsiuk was elected the Head of the Department. In 2006–2016, the department was headed by Ph.D in Pedagogy, Associate Professor Nataliya Boichuk, since 2016 – Ph.D. in Philology, Associate Professor Iryna Syrko.
Professor Volodymyr Kemin, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, was the Head of the Department of the English Language Practice and Methods of Teaching from September 2022 to January 2023. Since January 1, 2023, Vira Slipetska, Ph.D. in Philology (Germanic Languages), Associate Professor has been the Head of the Department.
