Guest Lecture by Professor Dr Gerard McCann on “Education for Recovery”

On November 20, Head of the International Relations Department Khrystyna Voytovych, Head of the Department of English and Translation Yulia Talalay and students at the Faculty of Ukrainian and Foreign Philology attended an online guest lecture by Prof Dr Gerard McCann, Principal Lecturer and Head of International Programmes, St Mary’s University College, Queen’s University Belfast, who shared the international experience in the development of education during post-crisis recovery.

Topic: Education for Recovery.

In his lecture, Prof. McCann emphasized the importance of education as a key component of the resilience of society. He emphasized that high-quality educational programs can become the basis for the economic, social and cultural recovery of the state. The speaker placed special emphasis on supporting youth, inclusiveness and developing global citizenship in the face of modern challenges.

The lecturer also discussed the tools of international cooperation, the possibilities of educational diplomacy and the role of universities in shaping future leaders. The participants received practical recommendations on the implementation of programs that contribute to the strengthening of communities, in particular for internally displaced persons, veterans and youth initiatives.

The event ended with an active discussion, during which Prof. McCann answered questions regarding the integration of the Ukrainian education system into the European space, the use of international grant programs and the development of inter-university partnerships.

The lecture lasted one hour and thirty minutes.
