XXV International Ukrainian Language Competition named after Petro Yatsik

On October 31, the first stage of the XXV International Ukrainian Language Competition named after Petro Yatsik took place at the Faculty of Ukrainian and Foreign Philology. The founders of the Competition are the League of Ukrainian Patrons, the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine as well as the Ministry of Defense.

During the armed conflict, the importance of the Ukrainian language grows in proportion to the challenges that our state overcomes in the dramatic struggle for its integrity and sovereignty, linguistic and cultural stability. The Ukrainian word became a guardian of spiritual and mental boundaries, found itself on the line of a dramatic civilizational split between two worlds, where “manhood and brutality rise up” to battle. Reborn later amid explosions and sirens, it becomes the “pain of the only weapon” of millions, for whom Ukraine is above all!

Yury Skvarok, vice-rector for academic work and digitalization, and head of the jury – associate professor of the Department of Ukrainian Language Maria Stetsyk addressed the participants of this glorious Competition, which continues under the circumstances. The students of Drohobych Ivan Franko Pedagogical University have often become prize-winners of the competition. This is especially inspiring. It inspires and wins the Ukrainian Warriors who protect us and the most precious thing – Language, Faith, Culture – in a duel with the snobbish muscovite hordes. To the heroes – honor and glory, to the students – success and achievements, to Ukraine – Victory!

Do words die? Fading?

No, they won’t fade away!

Long may it continue!
