Drohobych University – Co-organizer of the International Scientific Conference

On November 20–21,  the VIII International Scientific Conference “For the Safety and Development of the Child. The Child in the Context of Technology Abuse” was hosted by the Opole Polytechnic University (Republic of Poland).  Drohobych University was once again among the co-organizers of this scientific meeting along with a number of foreign and Ukrainian partners, including: Vitelon Collegium in Legnica, Opole Polytechnic, Rivne State University for the Humanities, VIZJA University in Warsaw, Higher School of Humanities and Economics in Brzeg, Society of Friends of Children – Regional Branch in Koszalin, Society of Friends of Children – Lower Silesian Regional Branch with a center in Legnica etc.

Head of the Department of Philosophy, Sociology and Political Science named after Professor Valeriy Skotnyi, Professor Nadiya Skotna, Associate Professors of the Department Oksana Zelena and Bohdanna Hvozdetska, as well as Associate Professors of the Department of World History and Special Historical Disciplines Iryna Lozynska and Svitlana Bila were among the participants.

The chairman of the scientific committee of the conference was Professor, Doctor habilitated Stanisław Leszek Stadnichenko (VIZJA University in Warsaw), and the head of the Organizing Committee was Dr. Piotr Zamielski (Opole Polytechnic).

The conference traditionally took place on the International Children’s Day and was interdisciplinary in nature, and its participants were scientists and specialists in resolving issues related to children, their opportunities and threats caused by technological development, as well as legal mechanisms for child protection. The sessions were held in a mixed format using live streaming. The work continued in plenary sessions, ten sections and several training sessions.

The Drohobych participants presented their research during the session of the section “Prevention of Threats to Children and Youth in the Digital Environment”. In addition, they joined the training of speech therapy specialist Dr. Mariusz Zbigniew Jędziejko on the topic “Cyber Disorders: Phenomenon, Conditionality, Diagnosis, Prevention” and received certificates of completion.

Within the framework of the conference, individual participants were awarded special awards at the initiative of the Society of Friends of Children. Professor Nadiya Skotna received the award from Drohobych for her contribution to the social cause of raising and caring for children.
