DAY ONE
November 4 – Monday
A day with the history of Polish literature
The Week of Polish Literature, Language and Culture in Drohobych began with a ceremonial opening, the students were greeted by the Dean of the Faculty of Ukrainian and Foreign Philology, Professor Petro Matskiv, Head of the International Collaboration Department, Associate Professor, PhD in Mathematics, Hrystyna Voitovych and Head of the Department of Foreign Literature and Polish Studies, Doctor of Philology, Professor Halyna Sabat. The coordinators of the international educational project “Gingerbread with Salt”: teacher of Polish language at the Department of Foreign Literature and Polish Studies Oksana Yavorska and Head of the Department of Literary Theory and Comparative Studies at Nicolaus Copernicus University, Professor Anna Skubachevska moderated the event.
Next, an online master class in theatre arts was given synchronously to the participants by the director and teacher at the Academy of Theatre Arts in Krakow, Professor Józefa Zając-Jamruz. The professional actress demonstrated breathing and speech exercises that will be useful for future teachers.
The lectures on the history of literature by Doctor of Polish Studies at the Nicolaus Copernicus University Marcin Wołk “Wisława Szymborska – a Naturalist” and Doctor of Polish Studies Mirosława Radowska-Lisak “The Figure of the Writer: from Mickiewicz to Conrad” were followed by the lively discussion involving lecturers from Drohobych University – Associate Professor Vera Menok and Oksana Yavorska and university students.
Dr. Mirosław Radowska-Lisak gave a lecture on the Ukrainian novels by Józef Ignacy Kraszewski and Teodor Tomasz Jerz, and Dr. Marcin Wolk presented to the audience “Postal Variations” by Kazimierz Brandys.
