From 16.09. to 20.09.2024 as part of the work on the project: “MOOC-based microcredits for professional development of teachers” (CRED4TEACH) a trial run of the program “Children with special educational needs – theory and practice of correctional work” was organized on the basis of the center for postgraduate education and pre-university training together with the Charitable Foundation “Karitas of the Sambir-Drohobych Diocese of the UGCC”, implementing the project “Responding to the critical situation of IDPs and the affected local population: strengthening communities in the eastern and western regions of Ukraine” (project manager Lesya Nadolska). The purpose of the course is to help parents of children with special educational needs (including autism spectrum disorders) and organize partnerships and assistance in the educational process. The authors and developers of this module are the participants of the CRED4TEACH project, associate professor Maria Zamishchak and senior researcher Lesya Perkhun.
On September 19, 2024, a workshop on the topic “Theory plus practice equals success!” was held in Room 215 – a media studio created within the framework of the CRED4TEACH project. The participants of the program learned practical methods of working with children with special educational needs, jointly discovered the role of play as an effective way to help children with autism, which helps to move from self-immersion to real interaction with other people. They actively discussed how to teach a child with autism to behave in society, sensory and cognitive space, how to work on speech and the development of social and everyday skills – extremely relevant in the context of systemic influence on the formation of children with autism spectrum disorders.
We hope that the painstaking work of the project participants will help to realize the set tasks and will contribute to effective practical work with students, teachers and parents, for whom lifelong learning is a process of constant growth both in general education and professionally for their own needs and the needs of society.
