University Delegation Participates in International Scientific Congress Dedicated to Ivan Franko

The International Scientific Congress “Only to Fight Means to Live” took place at the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv from September 24 to 26, 2026. This major event was dedicated to the 170th anniversary of the birth of the prominent Ukrainian thinker, poet, prose writer, playwright, publicist, scholar, translator, and civic and political figure. Over 200 scholars, researchers, and representatives from educational, academic, and cultural institutions from Ukraine and abroad discussed the legacy of “Kameniar” (The Stone-Cutter), its modern interpretations, and its significance within the intellectual, cultural, and socio-political context of the 21st century.

A strong team from Drohobych State Pedagogical University, led by Rector Professor Valentyna Bodak, participated in the event.

The opening ceremony was held in the University’s assembly hall and began with the National Anthem and a minute of silence in memory of fallen heroes. The Rector of the University of Lviv, Professor Roman Hladyshevskyi, delivered welcoming remarks.

In the days that followed, the participants attended breakout sessions, a roundtable titled “Scripta manent” (What Is Written Remains), and exhibition tours as well as excursions to the “Nahuievychi” State Historical and Cultural Reserve and the Ivan Franko National Literary-Memorial Museum in Lviv (Franko’s House).
