International Week at Vives University of Applied Sciences

From November 18 to 22, the traditional International Week for staff at the Faculty of Applied Social Sciences and the Faculty of Administration, Economics and Computer Science was held in Vives (Belgium). The event was attended by a delegation from Drohobych Ivan Franko State Pedagogical University headed by the rector of the university Professor Valentyna Bodak, vice-rector for international collaboration Associate Professor Ihor Hrynyk, head of the psychological service, Deputy Dean of the faculty of history, pedagogy and psychology, Associate Professor Andriy Zymyansky, and head of the international collaboration department, Associate Professor at  the department of mathematics and economics Khrystyna Voytovych.

During the week, our colleagues gave a series of lectures and interactive classes for students at the Vives University of Applied Sciences covering the topics of the war in Ukraine, migration processes (Ihor Hrynyk), new challenges for psychologists during wartime, and search for ways to build resilience and resourcefulness in difficult conditions (Andriy Zymyansky).

Khrystyna Voytovych gave lectures to students specializing in computer science on the topic of “Git and GitHub”.

During the visit, the delegation also had the opportunity to meet with students of the Faculty of History, Pedagogy and Psychology, Sofia Ksenyak and Anna Orikhivska, who are currently undergoing a semester of study within the framework of the Erasmus+ academic mobility program. At the international and intercultural fair, our students initiated a fundraising campaign to purchase paraffin for the production of trench candles as part of the student faculty initiative “Trench Candle for the Armed Forces of Ukraine – Your Light to Victory”.

In addition to educational activities, university representatives participated in a number of meetings dedicated to expanding international cooperation, developing project activities, and discussing new formats of academic mobility.

Participation in such events is a significant step towards strengthening international integration and improving educational and scientific approaches at Drohobych University.
