‘Hello everybody ! I am a 5th-year student at the Faculty of Human Health and Natural Sciences, Drohobych University majoring in geography
My first week of study at Hogeschool VIVES, Belgium has come to an end I will be studying here for five months under the Erasmus+ program, which is an exchange program for students and teachers. I am very grateful to Drohobych University for this opportunity.
Let me tell you a little more about the very name of Vives College. The name was given in honor of Juan Luis Vives (1493-1540) – a philosopher, humanist and teacher. Vives taught monarchs. His ideas of education are diverse. The idea of children’s education predates Jean-Jacques Rousseau, and might have indirectly influenced Rousseau through Montaigne. Vives’ teachings inspired two Belgian schools of higher education (KATHO and Katholieke Hogeschool Brugge-Oostende) to choose the name Vives as the name for their collaboration, starting in September 2013. I want to thank Svitlana Musina for this information and a very interesting tour. She did not only introduce us to the city of Bruges, but also met us at the place of arrival.
I consider it cool to be studying abroad, in particular in Belgium. Here I can share my experience (which I gained while studying at Drohobych University) with students from different parts of the world, with whom I actively communicate. And improve my English – the language of study. Here I study under the V.I.C.K.I.E program, which prepares future teachers. I think that this program will help me improve my skills, which I will be able to apply in the future while working as a teacher in Ukraine. If everyone improves themselves and works for the good of their country, then we will rebuild our Ukraine very quickly.”
