On 21 – 22 May 2017 a delegation from Ivan Franko State Pedagogical University, Drohobych, headed by the Rector Prof. Nadia Skotna visited the friendly city of Lublin at the invitation of Grzegorz Yuzefczuk, chairman of the “Bruno Schulz Festival” Association in Lublin, artistic director of the International Bruno Schulz Festival in Drohobych, Honorary Doctor of our University. The 10th anniversary of the Society, and 700-year anniversary of Lublin, one of the most active cultural centers in eastern Poland that actively initiates and develops cooperation with Ukraine were a good occasion to visit the city.
The program of the university delegation stay in Lublin included, in particular, a tour of the museum at Majdanek, an open-air “Museum of the Lublin Village”, Dominican Chapter, the St. Trinity Chapel – the main monument of culture of Lublin, the Metropolitan Seminary, the “House of Words” , an innovative culture hub.
During the visit, Prof. Nadia Skotna had a meeting Prof. Antoni Dębinski, rector of the Lublin Catholic University and Professor Alina Orlowska, vice-rector of the Maria Curie-Sklodowska University in Lublin, during which they discussed future areas of cooperation of Ivan Franko University with the two Lublin universities with whom we have developed long and fruitful cooperation and friendly relations.
At the end of the first day of the program there was a friendly festive meeting in the artistic restaurant “Hades Szeroka” on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the “Bruno Schulz Festival” Association. The next day, the delegation had the opportunity to visit Kazimierz Dolny, a charming town on the Vistula, which has preserved its Renaissance architecture, many cultural monuments, and above all, a unique scenic views.
We express our gratitude to Dr. h.c. Grzegorz Yuzefczuk for the invitation and organization of interesting programs in Lublin, all friends and partners from Lublin, for the warm and friendly atmosphere for our meetings these days.
