The annual literary and artistic project “Second Autumn” starts

The annual literary and artistic project “Second Autumn” dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the death of Bruno Schulz will take place on November 19-202022. It is initiated by the Polonistic Scientific and Information Center named after Ihor Menko at Drohobych University and organized jointly with the Krakow Pedagogical University and the Bruno Schulz Festival Society (Lublin ).
The Senate of the Republic of Poland has declared 2022 as the Year of Bruno Schulz – on July 12, the inauguration of X Schulzfest was dedicated to the 130th anniversary of his birth, and on November 19, the 80th anniversary of his innocent death at the hands of the German Nazis will pass.
The two-day cycle of “Second Autumn” events will begin, as usual, with an ecumenical meeting and joint prayer in the memory of Bruno Schulz and those dedicated to preserving the multicultural memory of our city. We invite you to join the prayer on November 19 at 11:00 a.m. at the place of his death, and then participate in various literary, artistic and scientific events. Get acquainted with the intensive “Second Autumn” program. Do not miss interesting events!
We also emphasize that on November 19, 2022 at 12:00 as the part of the literary and artistic project “Second Autumn” the “Blue-Eyed Dream Bench” will be opened in the park opposite the university main building (24, I,Franka Str.) – an art installation based on Bruno Schultz’s painting “The Meeting” and the story “Republic of Dreams”. The bench is a gift for Drohobych from the Polish partner city of Bytom. Since the beginning of the full-scale russian invasion of Ukraine, Bytom has been constantly supporting Drohobych and Ukraine in the struggle for victory over our common enemy, providing humanitarian aid and assistance to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
After the opening of the bench-installation, a solemn panel “Ars longa – living presence, hope: on the 80th anniversary of the death of Bruno Schulz” will be held in the university assembly hall  with the participation of the rector of Drohobych University, the mayor of Drohobych, representatives of the city of Bytom, the Senate of the Republic of Poland, the General Consulate of the Republic of Poland in Lviv, scholars and cultural activists from Poland.
Admission to all “Second Autumn” events is free! You are welcome!
