On September 5, 2016 a meeting of retired and reserve military personnel who wish to undergo training courses at Center for Retraining and Further Education was held at Ivan Franko State Pedagogical University, Drohobych.
The course syllabus was introduced by the Director of the Center for Retraining and Further Education Associate Professor Petro Feschenko. Those who greeted the present military personnel were: the Rector of the University Professor Nadiya Skotna, the Mayor of Drohobych Taras Kuchma, director of the Western Regional Center for Retraining and Social Adaptation Andriy Roy, the director of the NATO-Ukraine Program Christopher Staudt and the executive director of the same program Olexandra Ohorodnikova. The trainees were acquainted with the NATO program which has been implemented in Ukraine and other countries for 16 years, in order to assist former military personnel. The program curators indicated that the courses are free and are funded from the NATO civilian budget.
The Western regional center of retraining and social adaptation has involved during the time of its existence 8.5 thou. ex-servicemen from 65 cities of Ukraine, including 24 students this year in Drohobych. According to Christopher Staudt, the main goal is psychological rehabilitation, social adaptation and the future employment of ex-servicemen.
