Franko University participated in the conference “The role of education in the implementation of sustainable development goals till 2030 in Ukraine”

On December 7, 2017, at the invitation of the UN Development Program, the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy and with the support of the Global Environment Facility, the Ivan Franko State Pedagogical University of Drohobych took part in the conference “The Role of Education in Implementation of Sustainable Development Goals till 2030 in Ukraine”.

In 2015, the United Nations General Assembly adopted the goals of Sustainable Development (SDG), which will determine the development of states and communities by 2030. This decision became the subject of numerous discussions in Ukraine and in the world and gave a powerful impetus to the planning of transformations of the society on the basis of sustainable development. The SDG is a system of global challenges for economic growth, social welfare, sustainable use and the preservation of the environment for the sake of future generations.

In addition to the leading universities of Ukraine, the conference was attended by the Baltic University Program, the NBU, the Center for Social and Marketing Research, the Institute for Socio-Economic Research. During the event panel discussions on the best practice of integrating the paradigm of sustainable development in education, the programs and the vision of the role of universities in achieving the SDG – 2030 were held. Scientific, technological and managerial innovations, important for sustainable development of the society, were presented. The main directions of development of partnership relations between universities, authorities, international organizations, financial institutions and business corporations with regard to achieving the goals of Sustainable Development were highlighted.
