The educational and scientific community of Drohobych region mourn over an irreparable loss: IRYNA TURCHYK – Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor at the Department of Theory and Methodology of Physical Culture and Sports at Drohobych Ivan Franko State Pedagogical University – suddenly passed away on March 31, 2023, aged 44.
Iryna Turchyk was a talented teacher, her students loved and respected her. Her contribution to Ukrainian science is more than 100 scientific publications; she was a co-author of the physical education curriculum for school, a member of the All-Ukrainian working group on compiling the competence potential in the field of physical education: the basic standard.
She fruitfully cooperated with international organizations within the framework of the Erasmus+ program, participating in the development of a new educational program on occupational therapy which aims to improve the quality of higher education and its relevance for the labor market and society.
A person with a generous soul, she actively and energetically joined the volunteer movement since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the russian federation taking care of forced migrants who live in the university dormitory. She encouraged charitable funds, colleagues and partners from foreign universities to help the people in the dormitory and in the entire Drohobych community with everything necessary for life – food products, hygiene items etc.
In these sorrowful days, we share the indescribable sadness with her relatives and friends, we pray for the repose of her soul. The bright and kind memory of Iryna Turchyk will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew, loved and respected her, who lived and worked next to her, whom she taught being an example of human dignity, nobility, and professionalism. It is difficult to find words of condolences, it is impossible to heal the pain and bitterness of the loss…
