On September 2-4, 2022, the “Days of Freedom of Ukraine” and “Open Door Day” took place at the Polonia Academy in Częstochowa. The events were attended by the Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Poland Przemysław Czarnek, the Head of the Education Department of the Silesian Voivodeship, Ursula Bauer, Czestochowa city leadership, representatives of higher education institutions of Ukraine and others. The delegation of Drohobych Ivan Franko State Pedagogical University included Vice-rector for research and pedagogy, international collaboration and information activity Associate professor Ihor Hrynyk, Head of the Department of Biology and Chemistry Associate professor Svitlana Monastyrska, Associate professors Svitlana Voloshanska and Natalia Hoyvanovych.
The rector of Drohobych University, Professor Valentyna Bodak, took part in the event online. In her speech, Professor Bodak thanked her Polish colleagues for their support, talked about the horrors of the war in Ukraine with ensuing peculiarities of organizing the educational process, described the activities of the volunteer center and expressed hope for fruitful international cooperation in the future.
The highlight of the event was a concert of Ukrainian music (at the special invitation of the rector of the Polonia Academy) performed by pianist, leading accompanist, Associate professor at the Department of music-theoretical disciplines and instrumental training Natalia Storonska, accordionist, master’s student Victoria Mazuryk (a student of Assoc. professor A. Dushnyi) and student vocalist Olena Savka (a student of Assoc. professor E. Shunevych). They received words of gratitude from the Rector of the Polonia Academy and thunderous applause from the audience.
Rector Andrzej Krynski met our delegation to discuss the issue of further cooperation regarding double diploma and academic mobility of students and scientific and pedagogical workers. It is worth noting that today 12 Drohobych University students are studying at the Polonia Academy under the Double Diploma Program being the participants of the Erasmus+ academic mobility program.
