On September 20, 2026 the “Shark. Truly Equal Marathon” took place in Drohobych—a major sporting event that brought together nearly 400 people, including professional runners, children, veterans, and anyone interested in joining the running community. The event’s general partner was “Shark,” the most resilient Ukrainian reconnaissance UAV developed by the company Ukrspecsystems. The marathon was organized and held through the collaboration of the “Black Forest” military brigade, the “Black Forest” NGO, and the Drohobych City Council. The military community initiated and led the event, aiming to create a high-quality sporting platform with a significant charitable mission.
The participants could choose a distance depending on their fitness levels and athletic goals—ranging from a 1 km charity run to the full marathon distance of 42,195 km.
Drohobych University was represented by the following students:
Stepan Balush, Ivan Bokalo, Vitalii Pashynskyi, and Vasyl Pivtorak (1 km distance);
Serhii Khomyshak (5 km distance);
Marian Kobylnyk, Yaroslav Melnyk, and Mykola Ferents (10 km distance).
First-year student Nazar Humen deserves special mention for completing the full marathon distance of 42,195 km!
We wish the students continued success! We thank the Armed Forces of Ukraine for the opportunity to train and participate in competition.
