Brief Introduction:

Soodabeh Davaran is professor of Pharmaceutical Biomaterial in Faculty of Pharmacy, Tabriz University of Medical Sciences and head of the Medical Nanotechnology Department in Faculty of Advanced Medical Sciences. Prof. Davaran received her undergraduate and post graduate degrees in Chemistry, with specialization in polymeric biomaterials from Tabriz University. She has published over 200 papers in international journals. She is also a holder of twelve patents in the field of drug delivery. Professor Soodabeh Davaran received the UNESCO Medal for “Contributions to the Development of Nanoscience and Nanotechnologies” at the UNESCO Headquarters in Paris. She has been a member of the Iran’s Chemical and Engineering Society, American Chemical Society and member of council of laureates of UNESCO medal in nanotechnology.

Brief Introduction:

Dr. Yury Gogotsi is Distinguished University Professor and Charles T. and Ruth M. Bach Professor of Materials Science and Engineering at Drexel University. He also serves as Director of the A.J. Drexel Nanomaterials Institute. He received his MS (1984) and PhD (1986) from Kiev Polytechnic and a DSc degree from the Ukrainian Academy of Sciences in 1995. His research group works on 2D carbides, nanostructured carbons, and other nanomaterials for energy, water and biomedical applications. He published more than 700 papers, which have been cited over 150,000 times. He has been recognized as Highly Cited Researcher in Chemistry and Materials Science, and Citations Laureate in Physics by Thomson-Reuters/Clarivate Analytics. He has received numerous awards for his research including a European Carbon Association Award, S. Somiya Award from the International Union of Materials Research Societies, Fred Kavli Distinguished Lectureship in Nanotechnology from the Materials Research Society, International Nanotechnology Prize (RUSNANOPrize), R&D 100 Awards from R&D Magazine and many other distinctions. He has been elected a Fellow of the European Academy of Sciences, American Association for Advancement of Science (AAAS), Materials Research Society, American Ceramic Society, the Electrochemical Society, Royal Society of Chemistry, International Society of Electrochemistry, as well as Academician of the World Academy of Ceramics. He holds honorary doctorates from several European universities. He is currently acting as Associate Editor of ACS Nano.

Brief Introduction:

Dr. Magali Cucchiarini Madry is a Professor at the Saarland University, Germany. She also serves as the Vice-Director of the Center of Experimental Orthopaedics, Saarland University and Saarland University Medical Center. She received her PhD (1995) from the University of Nice-Sophia Antipolis, France. Her research group works on gene therapy and tissue engineering approaches for regenerative human musculoskeletal medicine. She published more than 180 papers. She received numerous awards for her research among which a European Research Award on Keutel Syndrome, the 1st Price for Fundamental Research (Germany Society for Orthopaedics and Trauma Surgery), and the 1st Interregional Research Award on Cartilage Research. She has been elected Board Member of the Orthopaedic Research Society (ORS) and of the Osteoarthritis Research Society International (OARSI). She is the Scientific Co-Chair of the 2022 International Cartilage Regeneration & Joint Preservation Society (ICRS). She is a Member of the Nanoagents & Synthetic Formulations Committee and of the Musculo-Skeletal Gene & Cell Therapy Committee of the American Society of Gene & Cell Therapy (ASGCT). She has been Guest Professor at University Paris 13, Sorbonne, France. She is currently acting as an Editorial Board Member of International Journal of Molecular Sciences, OAC Open, Biology, BioMed Research International, and Orthopaedic Journal of Sports Medicine.

The main achievements of the Center:

  • Elucidation a role of iron in biological processes in living systems under stress conditions with help of ESR spectroscopy;
  • Synthesis of organic-inorganic polymer matrixes for creation of novel third-generation highly sensitive amperometric biosensors;
  • Correlation between free volume of polymer matrix and parameters of biosensors constructed based on the polymer matrix;
  • Formation of heavy clusters in ion-irradiated compounds;
  • Complete ablation of tumors using synchronous chemoradiation with bimetallic theranostic nanoparticles;
  • Application of magnetic nanoparticles for diagnostic and treatment of various diseases;
  • Development of novel approaches for COVID-19 diagnosis using nanomaterials.
