On October 19-20, 2017, the International Scientific and Practical Conference “Native Language in the Ethno-Cultural Dimension” was held at the Faculty of Primary and Artistic Education. For the sixth time the department of philological disciplines and methods of teaching at the elementary school of the Ivan Franko State Pedagogical University in Drohobych together with the Institute of Ukrainian Language of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, the Masaryk University Institute of Slavic Studies (Czech Republic, Brno) and the department of Philology and Methodology of Elementary Education of the Lesya Ukrainka East European National University has held such a scientific meeting.
The dean of the Faculty of Primary and Artistic Education, Associate Professor Ivan Kutnyak, addressed the audience with a welcoming speech. The ceremony was opened by the rector Professor Nadiya Skotna. The participants of the event were presented by Professor Maria Fedurko.
At the plenary session, the scientific reports were read by: Vitaliy Kononenko, Professor, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Head of the Department of General and Germanic Linguistics at the State University ” Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University” Petro Bilousenko; Professor, Head of the Ukrainian Language Department at Zaporizhzhya National University; Vasyl Hryschuk; professor, Head of the Department of Ukrainian Language of Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian University Mykola Lesyuk; Professor, Head of the Department of Slavonic Languages at the Vasyl Stefanyk University Zoryana Kupchynska; Head of the Ukrainian Language Department, Ivan Franko National University of Lviv Professor Ivan Kovalyk. The report was also delivered by the scholars of the Ivan Franko State Pedagogical University in Drohobych: Dean of the Faculty of Philology, Professor Yaroslav Yaremko, Head of the Department of Germanic Languages and Translation Studies Professor Mykola Zymomria, Head of the Department of Philology and Methods of Teaching in Elementary School, Professor Maria Fedurko, Professors Petro Matskiv and Halyna Sabat.
Various aspects of the principles and problems of ethnological studies in modern linguistics were highlighted in the reports by Igor Systerov (Brno, Czech Republic), Lyubov Bilynska (Ternopil), Vira Kotovych (Drohobych), Anna Ohar (Drohobych). The artistic representation of the ethnic world was commented on by Natalia Byiak (Ternopil), Kristina Kuznetsova (Brno, Czech Republic), Maria Stetsyk (Drohobych).
The final meeting of the conference was held at the Writer’s House in Nahuievychi, after which the participants visited Ivan Franko’s estate, plunged into the atmosphere of Franko’s works on “The Fairy Tale Glade”.
The conference materials were published in the collection “Native language in the ethno-cultural dimension”.
